The new ŠKODA Octavia vRS Hatch has received a stunning makeover to deliver the perfect combination of space, pace and power. The new crystalline design across the bonnet enhances the sporty silhouette, while the iconic hexagon-shaped air holes in the grille have been further expanded on the wider bonnet to accentuate the car’s rally-inspired heritage.
The centrepiece of the front design is the characteristic ŠKODA grille sporting the vRS badge, while the perfectly streamlined rear is accentuated by a powerful black diffuser element and broad red reflector lamp above. It also features an even lower sports suspension, sculptured sports seats, vRS embossed door sill trims and stainless steel pedals.
In the summer of 2017, Skoda released the facelift of their third generation Octavia vRS. With the Octavia being the most successful Skoda of all time and the hot hatch market booming the bar was set very high for the ambitious Czechs. So just how well have Skoda done with this challenge?
The first impression of any vehicle is very important, straight away it is clear that the vRS offers much more than just performance. It is a very practical car with a large boot and plenty of seating space. Practicality along with performance and a good striking look is the perfect blend of a successful car, and Skoda has nailed it.
The positivity oozing out of this superb car does not stop there. The interior gives you a real feel of sophistication whilst still holding that sporty structure. I was also impressed with the new 8 Inch touch screen system. By far the most crisp and clear infotainment system on the market and with satellite navigation as standard this is sure enough to tick all the boxes.
Available in either a 230PS or 245PS Petrol or the iconic 184PS Diesel engine (All 2.0 litre) I decided to take out the 230PS for a drive. It is hardly surprising that the vRS is a quick car, but it is becoming clear that Skoda have put the effort into making a fast hatch comfy with a very smooth drive. The punchy 2.0 litre engine delivers the power very smoothly giving you a good kick without the feeling of not having control. To get a something comparable to this I would have to part with at least £32,000. However Skodas Flagship car is available for less than £26,000. This vehicle is a very strong statement from Skoda as they continue to grow in the UK Market.
